SWEEP 1 Radar
The SWEEP 1 is a radar system made by the Rotten Design Bureau, and is the most advanced radar in the arsenal of Shitsville. It is also the first radar to use E2. It's also the first proper scanning radar to be mounted on an aircraft is Shitsville, used in the MPA-03. The radar is great at detecting targets, and can be used to guide SARH missiles via a radio datalink once those missiles become available. Unlike most previous radar systems made by the Rotten Design Bureau, this is conical scanning and has a 60 degree sweep to cover a considerable area in front of an aircraft. The radar has proven incredibly reliable in testing, and is considered to be the best radar the Rotten Design Bureau has made so far. For scanning, it uses radio beam steering, unlike previous radar systems, which either used a static directional antenna or a mechanical apparatus to steer an array of directional antennae.
Operation
The radar has an analog circuit that is responsible for steering the beam, which is by far the most complex part of the radar. The data from that circuit is fed into an E2 chip which handles the rest. The chip produces the video signal to the display, handles targets, and puts the detected target on the screen for the operator to see. This radar is relatively simple, especially compared to earlier radar such as the Mod. 2 Radar, which was less capable but used a lot more gates for operations. The E2 chip has allowed much more complex operations on the radar when compared to the earlier completely gate based radar systems.
